Kafaarah is due on a person who breaks their fast intentionally, e.g by eating or drinking without a valid reason. Kaffaarah is a penalty paid by fasting 60 consecutive days. If this is not possible then Give 60 poor persons 3.5 lbs. (approx. 1.6 kg.) of wheat or its value in cash or food. For more details speak to an alim. Please Note: The person still needs to make up the fast of Ramadan, which they broke, as the Kaffaarah does not cover the Qadaa.
